Enjoy a healthy twist on the classic burger with stuffed cabbage leaves filled with savory meat and herbs, baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey, chicken, or vegetarian protein)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg (optional, for binding)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cabbage leaves by removing damaged ones, cutting the cabbage in half, carving out the core, and blanching large leaves in boiling water for 2-3 minutes.
  2. In a bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, thyme, salt, pepper, and optionally cheese and egg. Mix well.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Fill each cabbage leaf with meat mixture and wrap securely.
  4. Brush wrapped burgers with olive oil and season with salt.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cabbage is tender and browned, optionally broil for the last 1-2 minutes for extra crispiness.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with salad or dipping sauces.

Notes

Make sure to blanch the cabbage leaves properly to prevent tearing during wrapping.
