  • 4 teaspoons Baking powder This ensures your biscuits rise and become nice and fluffy.
  • 1/3 cup Sugar Adds a touch of sweetness that complements the blueberries.
  • 1 teaspoon Salt Enhances the flavors of all the ingredients.
  • 1 cup Cold milk Brings moisture and richness to the dough.
  • 5 tablespoons Cold or frozen butter Contributes to the flaky texture; remember to grate or cut it into small pieces for even mixing.
  • 3 ounces Fresh or dried blueberries The star ingredients that bring sweetness and vibrant flavor.

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup Powdered sugar For a sweet glaze that adds a delightful finish.
  • 1/8 cup Water Used to thin out the glaze for drizzling.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract Adds warmth and depth to the flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon Lemon juice Brightens up the glaze and balances the sweetness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Whisk well for even distribution.
  • Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gently fold in the blueberries to prevent bruising.
  • Slowly pour in the cold milk and mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  • Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1-inch thickness.
  • Use a round cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Baking

  • Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
  • While the biscuits bake, mix powdered sugar, water, vanilla, and lemon juice for the glaze.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the warm biscuits as they cool slightly.

Notes

Use frozen blueberries if fresh ones aren’t available. Consider adding lemon or orange zest for extra flavor. For a crunchy top, sprinkle sugar over the biscuits before baking.
