Instructions

Preparation

  • Grease a baking sheet with cooking spray and line it with parchment paper, ensuring a non-stick surface.
  • Insert a wooden stick into the top of each apple, pushing it about halfway through.

Cooking the Candy Coating

  • In a medium heavy pot over medium-high heat, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, red food coloring, and water.
  • Stir until the mixture begins to boil.
  • Boil until a candy thermometer reads between 300 and 310 degrees Fahrenheit, approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Coating the Apples

  • Remove the pot from heat and let the bubbling subside for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  • Dip each apple into the hot candy mixture until completely coated.

Cooling

  • Transfer the coated apples to the prepared baking sheet and let them cool completely.
