Ingredients

For the Cookie

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted Use 1 stick of butter
  • ½ cup brown sugar (light or dark) Packed
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 each egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Fluff and spoon into the measuring cup
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips Plus extra for topping

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or butter a 9-inch oven-safe skillet.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  • Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
  • Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Spread the cookie dough evenly in the skillet. Sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is just slightly gooey.

Serving

  • Let the cookie cool slightly before topping with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
  • Serve warm, straight from the skillet.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze in a single layer and reheat in the microwave for 15–20 seconds.
