For the Chocolate Glaze

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, oil, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Gradually mix in buttermilk until combined.
  • In another bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Stir in the hot water (or coffee) until the batter is silky.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Glazing

  • Melt chocolate chips, butter, and cream together in a microwave, stirring until smooth.
  • Stir in vanilla extract, then pour the glaze over the cooled cake.
