  • 1 teaspoon salt Essential for flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adds a hint of spice.

Coating

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour For a crispy coating.
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs Ensures extra crunch.
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper Optional for added heat.

Cooking Ingredients

  • as needed cooking spray To ensure crispiness.

Instructions

Marinate the Chicken

  • Place the chicken tenderloins in a bowl, pour in buttermilk, and sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Stir until well coated and let chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Coatings

  • In one shallow dish, combine all-purpose flour with cayenne pepper. In a separate dish, place panko breadcrumbs.

Coat the Chicken

  • Remove chicken from buttermilk, letting excess drip off. Dredge in flour mixture, dip back into buttermilk, then roll in panko breadcrumbs.

Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

Cook the Chicken

  • Arrange the coated tenders in the air fryer basket, avoid overcrowding. Spray tops with cooking spray. Cook for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).

Let It Rest

  • Remove from air fryer and let rest for a few minutes.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate overnight. Ensure consistent size for even cooking. Vary cooking times based on air fryer model; watch tenders towards the end. For added crunch, substitute some flour with cornmeal.
