Ingredients

For the beef filling

  • 1 lb 80/20 ground beef Provides rich flavor and juiciness.
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onion Adds depth to the taco filling.

  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning Blend of chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano.
  • 1/4 cup water Keeps the beef moist.

For assembly

  • 8 crispy taco shells Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese Adds richness and flavor.
  • 1 cup fresh lettuce, shredded Provides a refreshing contrast.
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes Brightens the tacos with freshness.
  • 1/4 cup sour cream Adds a cool, creamy touch.
  • 2 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped Optional, adds freshness.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and crumble the ground beef into the pan. Cook until the beef begins to brown.
  • Add the finely chopped onions and minced garlic to the pan and sauté until the onions are fragrant and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Mix well and simmer until the mixture thickens.
  • Warm the taco shells in the oven or prepare homemade shells by lightly spraying corn tortillas with oil and heating them until crispy.

Assembly

  • Fill each taco shell with a generous amount of the seasoned ground beef.
  • Top with shredded cheddar cheese to allow it to melt slightly.
  • Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and a dollop of sour cream. Sprinkle cilantro on top.

Notes

For extra crispy shells, fry them in oil. Customize toppings based on preferences.
