Ingredients

For the Chicken Marinade

  • 1 pound chicken breast, thinly sliced Tender and juicy

For the Tzatziki

Instructions

Preparation of Chicken

  • Combine olive oil, fresh lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, ground cumin, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  • Add the thinly sliced chicken breast and coat well. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Preparation of Tzatziki

  • Grate the cucumber and place it in a clean kitchen towel, squeezing to remove excess moisture.
  • In a medium bowl, fold together Greek yogurt, crumbled feta, drained grated cucumber, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, and extra virgin olive oil. Season with salt and pepper. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

Cooking the Chicken

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add marinated chicken. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until golden brown and reaches 165°F.

Assembling the Gyros

  • Warm the pita breads in a dry skillet or microwave.
  • Spread tzatziki on each warm pita, add chicken, red onion, tomatoes, and shredded lettuce. Fold and serve immediately.

Notes

Marinate chicken for up to 2 hours for a more intense taste. For gluten-free, substitute pita with lettuce wraps. Enhance tzatziki with spices like paprika or red pepper flakes for additional flavor.
