Instructions

Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Mix in the vanilla extract, followed by the egg, and continue beating until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour, salt, and vinegar, mixing until a dough forms. Avoid over-mixing.
  • Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thick and cut shapes with cookie cutters.
  • Place cut-out cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 8-10 minutes, or until slightly golden at the edges.
  • Allow cookies to cool completely on wire racks.

Icing and Decorating

  • In a clean bowl, combine icing sugar, meringue powder, and water. Beat until smooth and glossy, adjusting consistency as needed.
  • Use a piping bag or knife to frost the cooled cookies with icing. Let them dry completely before serving.

Notes
