Ingredients

For the Salmon

  • 1 tsp lemon pepper seasoning Adds zesty flavor.
  • 1 tsp garlic powder Enhances the dish's aromatics.
  • 1 tsp salt Essential for flavor.

For the Marinade

  • cup soy sauce Light or low-sodium recommended.
  • cup brown sugar Balances the saltiness of the soy sauce.
  • cup water Dilutes marinade for absorption.
  • ¼ cup vegetable oil Adds moisture and richness.

Instructions

Marinating the Salmon

  • In a shallow dish, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, water, and vegetable oil until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Preparing the Salmon

  • Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels, then season both sides with lemon pepper, garlic powder, and salt to taste.

Marinating for Flavor

  • Place the seasoned salmon fillets in the marinade for 15 to 30 minutes, flipping midway.

Preheating the Grill

  • Preheat your grill to around 400°F and oil the grates to prevent sticking.

Basting with Marinade

  • Pour about ¼ cup of the used marinade into a small bowl to use for basting during grilling.

Grilling the Salmon

  • Place the marinated salmon fillets on the grill without moving them for 4 to 5 minutes.

Finishing the Grill

  • Flip the salmon and grill the second side for an additional 3 to 4 minutes, basting with the reserved marinade.

Notes

For added texture, consider garnishing with sesame seeds. Fresh herbs like dill can enhance flavor. Cedar plank grilling will provide a smoky taste.
