Ingredients

For the Garlic Bread Base

  • 1 large French or Italian bread loaf, halved lengthwise
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (or 1 tsp dried)
  • 1 pinch salt

For the Philly Cheesesteak Topping

  • 1 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced Freeze for 30 minutes to slice easily
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • to taste Salt & black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional, for deeper flavor)
  • 6–8 slices provolone cheese (or mozzarella, white American)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat Your Oven to 400°F (200°C) so your garlic bread will come out beautifully crispy.
  • In a bowl, mix the softened butter, minced garlic, fresh parsley, and a pinch of salt.
  • Slather this fragrant mixture evenly on both halves of the halved bread.
  • Place it in the oven and let it bake for about 8–10 minutes, or until lightly golden.

Cooking

  • In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add in the onions and peppers. Sauté until soft—around 4–5 minutes. Remove them from the pan and set aside.
  • Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce, then cook for 2–3 minutes until browned and just cooked through.
  • Toss the sautéed veggies back into the pan with the steak and mix everything together.
  • Generously pile the steak and veggie mixture on each toasted bread half.
  • Lay those rich cheese slices over the top to cover every inch of steak and veggies.
  • Pop the bread back into the oven and bake for another 6–8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Broil briefly for a couple of minutes to achieve those golden, bubbly tops (optional but highly recommended).
  • Slice into individual portions and serve hot.

Notes

Pair with garlic aioli, ranch, or hot sauce for an extra flavor kick. Keep an eye on the bread while baking to avoid overbaking.
