Ingredients

Filling ingredients

  • 1 lb Lean ground beef A flavorful base that brings heartiness to your rolls.
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce Adds a savory umami flavor that enhances the meat.
  • 2 tbsp Hoisin sauce Provides a touch of sweetness, perfectly complementing the spices.
  • 1 cup Shredded carrots Crunchy and sweet, offering texture and vibrant color.
  • 1 cup Chopped bell peppers Adds freshness and a pop of flavor to the filling.
  • 1 cup Fresh basil leaves Essential for delivering that aromatic Thai twist.
  • 8 sheets Rice paper wrappers The perfect vessel for your flavorful filling, adding a soft yet chewy texture.

Instructions

Cooking the Beef Filling

  • Begin by heating a non-stick skillet over medium heat before adding your lean ground beef.
  • Once the beef is in the pan, break it apart with a spatula and let it brown for about 5 minutes.
  • As the meat cooks, add the soy sauce and hoisin sauce, stirring to coat the beef in a luscious glaze.
  • Toss in the shredded carrots and chopped bell peppers, allowing them to soften slightly while maintaining their crunchy texture—approximately 2 minutes.
  • Finally, add the fresh basil leaves and stir just until they wilt.

Rolling the Rolls

  • Prepare a shallow bowl with warm water and dip each rice paper wrapper individually for about 10 seconds until soft.
  • On a clean surface, place the wrapper, add a generous spoonful of the beef mixture, and fold in the sides before rolling tightly from the bottom.
  • Continue until all wrappers are filled, and enjoy the colorful array of rolls that await you.

Notes

Keep rice paper wrappers covered with a damp cloth to prevent them from drying out. Avoid overfilling to prevent messy rolls.
