Ingredients

For the Cupcakes

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix plus the ingredients called for on the box

For the Frosting

  • 1 1/3 cups butter, softened to room temperature
  • 5 1/3 cups powdered sugar fluffy and sweet
  • 2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa powder rich and dark
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract fragrant and aromatic
  • 4 Tbsp heavy cream to enhance the texture
  • 1 pinch kosher salt to balance the sweetness

For Decoration

  • 2 pieces pretzels for decorating the turkey tail
  • 4 pieces candy corn for the turkey's feathers
  • 3 pieces M&Ms for the turkey's wings
  • 2 pieces candy eyes to give life to your turkey cupcakes

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and line two 12-cup muffin tins with colorful cupcake liners.
  • Prepare the cupcake batter according to the package directions.
  • Scoop the cupcake batter into the prepared liners, filling them about two-thirds full.
  • Bake according to the package recommendations and let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack.

Make the Frosting

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder in batches, beating until smooth.
  • Add the vanilla extract, heavy cream, and a pinch of salt, and continue to beat until perfectly integrated.

Decorate the Cupcakes

  • Fill a pastry bag with your rich frosting.
  • Frost your cupcakes generously, piping larger dollops for the turkey's body and smaller ones for the head.
  • Place pretzels for the tail and arrange candy corn in front to represent feathers.
  • Add a candy corn for the beak and place M&Ms for the wings.
  • Finish by adding candy eyes above the beak.
